We’ve been sorting out boilers, fixing leaks, and installing heating systems across Buckinghamshire and the surrounding areas for over twenty years now. Started small, grew steadily, and still believe that good work speaks for itself. What keeps customers coming back isn’t just that we know our stuff – it’s that we actually care about getting things right.

Our Story

Back in 2000, Richard Smith had been working as an engineer for other companies long enough to know he could do things better. His father Maurice was meant to be enjoying retirement, but when Richard decided to go it alone, Maurice rolled up his sleeves and got stuck in alongside him.

Those early years were tough – just the two of them in a single van, taking on any job that came their way. But word spread about the quality of their work, and before long they needed more hands on deck. The business grew because they never cut corners, always turned up on time, and treated every customer’s home like it was their own.

A Family-Run Business

The family connection runs deep here, and it’s shaped everything about how we operate. Richard’s son Tommy started as an apprentice straight from school, learning the trade properly from the ground up. He turned out to be a natural – even won Worcester Bosch’s Apprentice of the Year award. Now he’s a qualified engineer in his own right, carrying on the same approach his dad taught him.

In 2020, Richard’s nephew Kevin returned to the business as a partner after completing his apprenticeship with Smiths Heating and running his own successful plumbing business. Having built up a solid reputation over the years, Kevin’s return allowed us to take on larger projects while still maintaining the personal touch that our customers expect.

This family foundation matters because it means we all have a stake in the business. When something goes wrong, it reflects on the Smith name. That’s why we take every job seriously, whether it’s fixing a dripping tap or designing a complete heating system for a new build.

All our engineers hold current registrations with Gas Safe, Oftec, APHC, CIPHE, MCS, and FGas. These aren’t just certificates on the wall – they represent ongoing training and assessment that ensures we can work safely and legally on all types of systems.

We’ve achieved Heat Geek Elite status, which recognises engineers who really understand modern heating systems. This isn’t about selling the most expensive equipment – it’s about designing systems that actually work efficiently and keep customers comfortable while minimising running costs.

Both Worcester Bosch and Vaillant have approved us as accredited installers. This means we can offer extended manufacturer warranties and have direct access to technical support when we need it. More importantly, it shows these leading brands trust us to represent their products properly.

Our work spans everything from emergency repairs in terraced houses through to complete heating installations in schools and offices. We’ve worked on listed buildings that need sensitive handling, modern developments with the latest technology, and everything in between. Each project teaches us something new.
